The 100TWh association promotes a socially sustainable energy transition, meaning it should be:
- Sustainable for the environment, by reducing emissions of all kinds
- Economically sustainable, by guaranteeing high-quality energy in sufficient quantities for all economic actors
- Socially sustainable, which means at an affordable and stable price for all social actors
In our view, nuclear power ticks all the boxes and must be brought back to the forefront of Belgium’s energy strategy.
To ensure the success of this energy transition, we propose a five-point plan:
- Towards more energy sovereignty whilst minimising the impact on the environment
- Towards electricity produced at the lowest possible cost to society, using a nuclear baseload partially complemented by intermittent renewables
- Towards a refurbished and gradually renewed nuclear fleet
- Towards optimised production of intermittent renewables
- Towards electricity at the best price for consumers
